The Great Flood Of Iloilo City

The Rain came down pouring almost the whole day without stopping..I thought this was just one of those rainy days syndrome the sky was dark dark clouds all over..I was surfing the net when the power was out..suddenly our newly installed telephone and internet connection was ringing I was wondering who is calling since it was a new number..as I answer the phone a male voice was telling me that the water was rising at almost alarming level of 9 feet so he told me to be aware i said to him thank you without even asking for his name..as i put down the receiver back to its cradle, I look out of the window curiously to check if there really is a flood since 9 feet is a lot of water..and there it was a chocolate brown muddy water came rushing down the road rising from the streets going directly to the house..I quickly run for the things I might need since we don't have a higher ground to cling on, our house is just one level and we don't have a second floor I try to move a lot of things by myself and putting everything else above the remaining chairs and tables hoping that the water will subside in a while but it really keeps rising to my surprise the whole neighborhood was all flooded I can't believe with my own two eyes, this mustn't be happening, all of the water stays the whole afternoon until the wee hours of the night.there was no power its completely pitch black and the sound of water rushing outside is all that I can hear ..I thought I was at the Pagsanjan falls because of the strong current of water flowing out from the street around the village were we live flowing out to the fields nearby...until finally the water receded at around ten pm.since im soaking wet and tired I finally fell asleep hoping that by tomorrow it will be gone. By the time I woke up at around 6a.m a lot of people are up and all my neighbors are cleaning. Lots of brown mud all over the place...you can't see anything green around. And after a week of cleaning that follows, the great davastation swept the whole district of Iloilo 3 days without power, water, cable and landline, not to mention my cellphone is wet due to the flood.
